Bilingual Technician/Installation and Training Specialist

This position is a full-time position based out of our Calgary Offices, but you will and should expect to travel.
Wiz-Tec covers the cost of any business related travel, and this will be discussed within the interview process.

 

Criteria for an Interview

PLEASE NOTE: THIS POSITION REQUIRES BILINGUALISM IN ENGLISH AND FRENCH, If that doesn't describe you, do not bother applying.  Eligible candidates will be tested in both written and oral language skills to be considered for this position.

  • College diploma in Information Technology i.e., Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent qualifications and experience
  • Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP), A+, Network+ certifications or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum One (1) year of work related experience providing software installation package and deployment and workstation build support
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and troubleshooting skills to provide solutions to software configuration and deployment problems and ability to understand the business impact
  • Extensive experience with a wide range of desktop software applications and desktop and server hardware
  • Demonstrated experience and high-proficiency skills and knowledge with Windows operating systems (Windows XP/7/8/10), PowerShell, Microsoft Windows Installer, Apple Mac OS (10.x), Microsoft Office applications, and IT security best practices
  • Experience and skills with mobile devices based on Applie iOS and Google Android
  • Knowledge and skills with TCP/IP (subnets, VLANs, ports, routing), VPN networking, DNS, DHCP, Firewalls, network switches, structured network cabling
  • Strong prioritization and time management skills and desire to continue learning new technology
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated success working in a team environment and with customers
  • A valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle is required for travel in all areas of Canada. 

Major Duties and Responsibilities

Reporting to and under the direction of the Service Manager, the primary function of this position is installing hardware and software while at a clients location, providing phone based technical support to those client, updating client's software and general service and support to our customer base nationally.

  • Perform software package distribution, install POSworkstation builds, release upgrades, migrations and software maintenance utilizing system management and software deployment tools
  • Perform integration and quality assurance testing of software packages and build images
  • Install, configure, maintain and troubleshoot Wiz-Tec software applications and desktop computer hardware and peripherals
  • Conduct, update and maintain software and hardware inventory as per our inventorying procedures
  • Tracking, updating and maintaining client software assets including hardware and software licensing records
  • Assist with configuration, troubleshooting and administration of the ISO9001-2008 ISO management system process'
  •  Provide 2nd level technical support problem determination, troubleshooting, resolution, documentation (trouble ticket tracking system) and escalation to next level appropriate technical support
  • Travel to customer locations to install Wiz-Tec software and hardware. Then train clients on the usage of the installed equipment
