Event Marketing Specialist

Job Description

ECO Canada is looking for a results-driven and enthusiastic individual with 2-4 years of experience in a similar role to join the marketing team. Reporting to the Marketing Manager, the successful candidate will lead the execution of all networking, training and corporate events, as well as support business development strategy across all lines of business.

 

As a key member of the team, the successful candidate will have a knack for executing a range of events seamlessly and will provide an outstanding experience for our members. The overall goal of the position is to increase member engagement, influence acquisition objectives and create strong relationships across Canada.

While each member of the team has individual responsibilities, ECO takes a team-based approach. Everyone is encouraged to take ownership of his/her ideas and to see them through to completion, while in collaboration with key influencers.

Responsibilities

In-Person Event Coordination

  • Planning, implementation and follow-up for all networking events, lunch and learns, or conferences
  • Coordinate event logistics, social media promotion, marketing collateral, and guest service
  • Actively engage with ECO members and prospective members
  • Ensure website content is relevant, up to date and aligned with event objectives
  • Manage speaker presentation content and on-site requirements
  • Follow up via phone and email with invitees and participants
  • Develop and maintain customer feedback surveys
  • Develop strong, positive relationships with on-site vendors and support service teams
  • Assist with program material development as needed
  • Propose ideas to improve provided services and event quality
  • Proactively handle any arising issues and troubleshoot any emerging problems on event day

 

Webinar and Virtual Event Management

  • Participate in potential platform evaluation projects and implementation of platform management criteria
  • Create and manage monthly and annual content calendar
  • Recruit new speakers and subject matter experts and maintain strong relationships with existing contacts
  • Manage live and on-demand platform requirements
  • Develop presentation content aligned to brand guidelines
  • Coordinate invites, landing page content and attendee requests
  • Social media and email content support
  • Support the development of podcast and video content initiatives

 

Prospecting

  • Weekly and monthly outreach to members, network contacts, partners and interested parties with information relevant to training and workforce development support initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain several audience segments with personalized messaging and communications

 

Reporting

  • Maintain dashboard of event registrations, attendees and all relevant engagement metrics
  • Regular measurement of ROI regarding sponsorship opportunities, conference participation and training programs
  • Regular analysis, data input for trending reports and insights for future event content development and continuous improvement

 

Product Management Support

 

  • Regular engagement and updates to members via online and offline sources to support product updates and growth objectives
  • Assist product leads with execution of product-focused events including tasks such as logistics management, collateral development, and message syndication
  • Other special project assistance may be required

Required Skills

The incumbent should have demonstrable experience in the following areas:

  • Strong interpersonal skills and desire to connect with people in working in all areas of the environment sector
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
  • Ability to write and edit official correspondence, proposals or reports
  • Great attitude and ability to maintain control while coordinating activities and balancing multiple priorities
  • Exceptional organizational skills and high attention to detail
  • Great telephone and email communications skills
  • Desire to work in a results-focused environment
  • Motivated self-starter with a strong desire to learn and a willingness to adapt to a variety of situations.
  • Able to measure success metrics and identify trends
  • Previous knowledge or desire to learn about Canada’s environmental workforce
  • Superior time management
  • Enthusiastic and collaborative attitude

 

Qualifications

  • Marketing and/or Public Relations degree or equivalent experience
  • At least two years of work experience in similar role
  • Advanced computer skills and experience with MS Office, particularly with Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
  • Experience working with WordPress, MailChimp, Constant Contact or other customer database management platforms
  • Proficient in webinar platforms such as WebEx, ReadyTalk or similar tools
  • Experience with social media platform management for businesses (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, Snapchat)
  • Fluency in French is an asset
